I want some information about Harvard university.?
According to my history teacher, they are a bunch of know it alls who don't like to debate and argue. If you don't agree with them , they'll just stick their nose up and walk away with a condescending attitude. If you want debate , try University of Michigan.

How do you get into Harvard University, USA?

How do you get into Harvard University, USA?
Getting into Harvard doesn't require some magic formula. The admissions officers will always tell you that every person that was accepted to Harvard was selected on an individual basis, chosen to best create a diverse, interesting, and vibrant campus.

That's why, despite the common notion that Harvard is just a school for the rich or genius, the university is just like any other with people from all different backgrounds and with many different interests,

That being said, there are many traits that the majority of Harvard students shared. In general, most Harvard students attained high GPAs and SAT scores in high school (though not necessarily a 4.0). Applicants are evaluated on a case by case basis and admissions officers not only not the letters and numbers but also the classloads. Challenge yourself to take the hardest classes your school offers or take classes at your local community college if your school does not have many higher level courses. The strongest student is one that goes above and beyond the basic requirements.

Similarly, pursue your passions. Many accepted students boast excellent extracurricular along with their academic achievement. Be active in the community (your school, neighborhood, city) and join clubs to develop your interests or start clubs that your school lacks.

Grades and SAT scores are only a part of the whole package that you are being evaluated on. Admissions officers also look at your list of clubs, awards, work experience, recommendations, and your essay (or personal statement) is key. Make sure to make yourself stand out. So simple "I've persevered", "I've learned this or that from ths or that memorable experience". When applying, try to look through the lens of the grader. What will pop out at him/her? What makes you unique and worthy of being among the 8% of applicants that are sent that large envelop with the congratualatory letter?

While there is no such thing as a golden ticket or a magic formula. As long as you strive to be a well-rounded student who has balanced academic achievement with social and community involvement, who is motivated, excited, and driven to realize goals, you will definitely boost your chances.

Good luck!!!

I have included some links below, as well as a book that was very influential to my college application process. :)

Top two reasons for attending Harvard University?

Harvard, Yale, and the others have a very prestigious reputation, so many go there especially for graduate studies b/c those are names that employers recognize and respect. So for the most part, people assume they will automatically get hired and receive higher salaries by going to those schools.

Top two reasons for attending Harvard University?
In undergrad, it almost doesn't matter, there are lots of great schools out there, but here are my reasons for wanting to attend that school for graduate studies:

1. because their philosophy department is outstanding.

2. because I can get a job teaching with a degree from harvard
Reply:cause it has a good name cause it's a ivy league....that's why most people go even thought they won't admit it

What is the adress of "Harvard University"?

When registering for tests, please use your name as it will appear on your Harvard application. Our testing requirements will change with the introduction of the new SAT I. For the Class of 2011, students may submit either the "old" SAT I or ACT taken before March 2005, or the new SAT or ACT (which must include the writing section). As always, students must also submit three SAT II exams of their choosing. The Admissions Committee will continue to consider all test results in light of students' educational opportunities.

Why do we require three SAT II Subject Tests?

* Secondary School Report and Mid-Year School Report to be filled out by your school counselor or college adviser. The Secondary School Report should be returned to the Harvard Admissions Office as soon as possible. The Mid Year School Report should be returned in February 2007 with your latest grades.

Harvard College and University (see details)?

When Harvard was established it was a college. When did it become a university?

Harvard College and University (see details)?
Harvard University (incorporated as The President and Fellows of Harvard College) is a private university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S., and a member of the Ivy League. Founded in 1636 by the colonial Massachusetts legislature[2] Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. It is also the first and oldest corporation in North America.[4]

Initially called "New College" or "the college at New Towne", the institution was named Harvard College on March 13, 1639, after a young clergyman named John Harvard, a graduate of England's Emmanuel College, Cambridge (a college of the University of Cambridge) and St Olave's Grammar School, Orpington in the UK, bequeathed the College his library of four hundred books and half his personal wealth, $1,500 or seven hundred fifty pounds sterling. The earliest known official reference to Harvard as a "university" occurs in the new Massachusetts Constitution of 1780.

No one really knows for certain, but above is the closest I can come to it.

What is the nearest amtrak station near harvard university?

South Station in Boston. You can take the subway directly from there to Harvard.

What is the nearest amtrak station near harvard university?
I am looking into Amtrak as a vacation option and from what I've seen i think ill go somewhere else. I was looking on their site i noticed that they didn't have a customer reviews section so i was sent searching google for answers. I found that most if not all the reviews said that the trains were always late (sometimes over a day and a half) and the customer service is nothing better than highway robbery. Some people were even forced to pay for a meal twice. TWICE!!!!!!!!!!! People who paid for first class tickets were treated like refugees. Some spent the night in a filthy lounge. No employee even said sorry for all they setbacks, delays, mistakes, and rude service. A number of people filed complaints and still haven't gotten a response. Take a plane. Its faster and better service even though it is horrible.

googled amtrak reviews
Reply:Back Bay may be closer but it is better if you just hope on the Red Line at Harvard and take it to South Station. Pointless to get off at downtown crossing just to switch to the Orange line it would take more time.

Take the Red Line to South Station thats the smarter thing to do.

To the last question Amtrak is great I have taken them many times. This so called first class you speak of is on acela and that is the only problemed train they have problems with.

I just took Amtrak last month to NJ then back here to Boston 2 weeks later. When it was time to go home my train was late due to delrailment, but Amtrak quickly fixed it and had acela make a special stop in NJ and pick us up. We did not get charged extra. All we had to do was get off at pen station in NYC and there was a train for the passangers of the 82 and 88 trains waiting for us. They made a special train for us. Since it was a sold out train they actually gave the people who purchases a business class ticket their money back.

The staff were extremely sorry and wicked friendly.

To the person below me unless you have taken Amtrak before then you don't know what your talking about. I have taken it since I was in college a long time ago and I only had 2 problems with them which both were solved in a quick and friendly manner. I understand you read comments that said they were horrible but you have never taken Amtrak, you have only read other people's complaints. Why not try taking a trip on Amtrak first before making a comment.

I say take Amtrak they are the BEST!!!!!
Reply:As the crow flies Back Bay Station is actually a little closer than South Station.

What an odd question.

Harvard 'collage' would be a work of art consisting of multiple depictions joined together to form a whole. By definition:

A collage (From the French: coller, to glue) is a work of art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.

Approcsimately, how much does Harvard University cost?
Harvard doesn't give merit scholarships, at all. Only need-based ones. However, according to their website, "About 70% of Harvard students receive some form of financial aid-grants, loans and/or part-time work". The cost of attendance is about $46,000 per year
Reply:you shouldn't go to Harvard if you can't spell approximately
Reply:The total expenses usually hover around $30,000USD including all the tuition, residence, and living fees. Full scholarships mostly cover the tuition, but you still have to pay for the residence and living fees.

What i need to get into Harvard university?

For your GPA do you need 4.0 in the 9th 10th 11th and 12th grades, every singal quarter?

what SAT score do i need to get (at least)?

Like what else should i do, what do they look at?

do they look at extracurricular activities, SSL hours?

Like how much SSL hours do you need, and extracurricular activities like sports or science clubs?

What do they really care about?

im in the 8th grade but i want to know now so i can be ready from the beggining.

and do they look at the 8th grade performance?

what grade do they really take seriously like the 11th grade 12th grade?

What i need to get into Harvard university?
-Your GPA has to be at least 4.0 on a 4.0 scale (with a ton of honors and AP classes). You basically have to be the valedictorian (#1) in your graduating class.

-9% of applicants get accepted.

-Your credits for each subject have to be the following:

4 English credits

4-5 foreign language credits

4 Social Studies/History credits

4-5 Math credits

4-5 Science credits

No college looks at 8th grade performance, but your performance in 8th grade usually establishes how hard your 9th grade classes are (and they do see that - you need to be in all honors/AP classes).

They take all 4 of your high school years very seriously

SAT Scores needed (this is the middle 50%):

Math: 700-790

Reading: 700-800

Writing: 690-790

ACT scores (this is the middle 50%): 31-35
Reply:Wow, I haven't seen an 8th grader worrying about college already! I'd say that Harvard, a highly selective university will pretty much look at all of these you listed. The GPA though, if weighted, should be higher if you want to be sure to get in. Colleges don't look at things below your freshman year (unless it's something serious and has to do with breaking the law or something =P). Also, most colleges will take the 11th grade more seriously, but things you do in all 4 grades are important!
Reply:Basically. You need to almost need to do perfect on the SAT, to get into Harvard. They do not look at your 8th grade year and your freshman year, but your GPA counts as a freshman. You need to make all A's. They look at extracurricular activities, try community service in a year or two. You need to have money or you can get a scholarship. You need to have something that know one else has. Good Luck!
Reply:I don't know, but I wish I had this attitude coming into high school(:

Reply:I have been to Harvard University. Harvard is a top-rated university. The faculty and adminstration are excellent. The Harvard Summer School is also "tops". However, the university has some weaknesses that could be changed to make it even better. The dorms need to remodeled quickly and quietly. The street people need to be regularly removed to reduce violence outside and around Harvard Yard. The Harvard police need to "kick-out" the students who do not pay their parking fines. In addition, Boston is nearby which has issues as well. I don't expect any of these issues at Harvard University and in Boston to change, because these issues have been around a longtime. of course it is good!! I am Reza I am a Master student of Electrical Eng. at EMU in Cyprus, and also i am Teacher in university, here is my yahoo ID: rezac2c

if u want any information about studying abroad, don't hesitate to ask!!

Do you think that harvard university is good for iranian student? if yes why? if no which university is good?
Just try to apply. If you're admitted. It means you're good, and you'll be able to perform well at Hardvard (and other top schools). Application fee is about $50 (may be changed each year), don't hesitate to apply if you think you're a very good student. However, before applying, check the requirements ( G.P.A , ACT/SAT and/or TOEFL, essay, recommendation letters...)
Reply:Harvard (and other elite schools such as the rest of the Ivy League , Duke, Stanford, etc) are probably not the best place for a foreign student. They are excellent schools, but they are also competitive. Because the students there are so good, the faculty can give them really hard assignments with lots of long readings in difficult books. Is your English near-perfect? Do you have a really large English vocabulary? Can you read long passages in English technical books easily? Will you understand all the references to American and British history that are likely to appear in the history, literature or political science classes?

You will be at a disadvantage compared to the American students. So, maybe a better plan is to not consider the very top American universities, but to look at the good second level universities where the students are not quite so competitive and the faculty are not so demanding. If you look at the US News college rankings on line, there are 100 excellent "National Universities" and many smaller schools that can give you a good education, but where the academic level is a little less intense.
Reply:Your Nationality/Race are not qualifying issues. Your demonstrated mental capability is the Issue.

There is no such thing as one country, one race being the absolute best.

China was using iron and gun powder eons before the west. The pyramids are a marvel of mathematics and engineering, Switzerland is world renown for its precision engineering, Germany developed the first Jet Air Craft, Finland is famed for it's architectural designs, America, along with other nations. for medicine. The point is, no one country or people is the BEST!

Universities are interested in your academic accomplishments,

along with whether you play music or sports, what are, if any, your contributions to your community, your integrity, values, morals.

Put together you academic packet and send it to the Universities that you are interested in.

As for Harvard, my son turned down a scholarship to Harvard to attend Rochester Institute of Technology. That has nothing to do with better or worse, he just felt that R.I.T. offered a better curriculum in what he wanted to study.
Reply:I am going to assume that if you are considering Harvard you are also quite smart. If you think you can cut it at Harvard, then the only issue left is your Iranian background. You won't be the only person of Iranian descent no matter what school you go to, and Harvard is no exception. With a tradition of liberalism and openmindedness the only surprise you would have at Harvard is how little your ethnicity matters. At a place like Harvard your background only matters as much as you want it to.

Harvard Extension School is it the same as Harvard University?

No.

It's generally an expermental or off the beat and track class offered by an outsider, sometimes not even by a MAster Teacher.

It can serve as college credit, that's up to the school.

It's more like classes given at a Hostile.

It does run 20 semester credit hours (usually 3 hours a night one night a week)

A friend of mine who has a B.S. in Chemistry and is one of the formost experts on cinema history and has run one of America's biggest archives of film extant proposed a course to UCLA extention on History of Comedy in Film and he had to pick a text book and do a syllubus and run the class like a real class and have a mid-term and final.

He screened a lot of film from his own archive.

He got the same pay as any lecturer.

But with his B.S. in Chemistry he generally would not be allowed to teach a lower division day course at UCLA in Cinema, although he's a huge expert with literally a homeschooled and unschooled PH D in the topic. At his college he took a Cinema History course taught by none other than Hans Richter (a Dadist founder).

He has a personal library of 400 history texts on Film, TV, Radio and Movies.

And he's read them all.

So read the course description and see if it is accepted as credit.

You can generally expect the course to be very "real world" and not as academic and those teaching the Extension generally come from the Real World.

These are closer to what you'd get at a Trade Center

More intenstive than a Learning Tree course, almost as intensive and deep as a Day Harvard Course, but someone different and more unique.

These are designed to give the General Public a taste of higher education without applications, admissions tests, passing the school muster.

Anyone with $250 can get admitted until the class fills.

Some courses might be taught by Day instructors. These definately may have transferable credits.

Harvard Extension School is it the same as Harvard University?
No, not really. Harvard University is far more competitive, and Harvard Extension has open admissions. People in the region tend to look down a bit on extension students, perhaps unfairly. But a lot of that is because it used to be the case that the extension school's classes weren't particularly rigorous. They've since fixed that, but still, that old reputation hangs on.

So, if you're looking at schools along the line of Harvard Extension, don't be too swayed by that "Harvard" name. It's a fine school, but it's fine along the lines of, say, Lesley College, rather than Harvard University.

Does Harvard University have a valedictorian?

Not that I could find. I checked out Harvard's official site. On their "commencement" page, I found no reference to a class valedictorian.

I also consulted the Harvard Crimson, the school's newspaper, and found no mention of a valedictorian.

It's hard to prove a negative, but from what I can gather, Harvard does not have a valedictorian.

Then again, I could be wrong. It's not like I went to Harvard or something.

Can I get in to a top university (Princeton, Harvard, Brown, UPenn, etc.)?

Hey everyone looking for a little help here. Out of our school's 100 scale for GPA, I have around a 102. I am involved in Key Club, Film Club, Bowling, Academic Quiz Bowl, Tennis, and Baseball. I am in all Honors and AP classes in my school, and I am a junior. I expect to have good scores on my SAT and SAT II's that I will take. If I do good on the SAT's, will I be able to get into a top university like Princeton, Harvard, Brown, or others?

Can I get in to a top university (Princeton, Harvard, Brown, UPenn, etc.)?
The Ivy League schools look for top students with top grades in all academic cores such as English, History, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and better choices of electives during the high school experience.

They also look for well rounded students with a balanced appreciation of academics and social and environmental activities proven by both good grades and good participation in community service.

While standardized testing is very important a lower yet respectable score with superior academic record and community involvement will get you in better than superior scores with average community involvement.

Are you tutoring others in your school? Are you volunteering at a drop in literacy center? Are you working with the homeless or volunteering as a friendly visitor at a nursing home?

I applied to several and managed to get into Penn by the hair on my chin due to having volunteered since age 14 at a children's hospital in Philadelphia working with children having been through amputation. My SAT was good but not that hot however my grades in the core academic areas were great and my community service superior.

Being a freshman at Penn isn't as difficult as I thought and others have told me that Penn isn't any more difficult than Temple or Drexel or this school or that school. It's just getting in that's tough. It is very expensive. I am thinking of possibly transferring to a less expensive school.

Reply:Sounds like you are on the right track. These schools are very competitive, so you'll want to do stuff that's really going to stand apart from others. For sure you need top grades, and then solid extra curricular activities. If you have a special interest, really, really push that. For example, if you want think you want to be a lawyer, do mock trial, and get a job in the summer making copies at a law firm or something like that.

My husband went to Harvard, everyone told him 'good luck buddy, no one gets into those schools' and he did it so keep at it, you can do it! Good luck!
Reply:SATs will help. the 102 and activities will help more , being in with someone who went there or knowing someone on the inside at one will help= or if you get some scholarship for you race, income, or for track of major studied,- that could be a boost.

Harvard is the best because they have the most people "out there" being successful in various fields. A lot of brilliant people come out of Harvard and are highly successful folks in society. Because of this, Harvard gains recognition as the best school in the world.

Universities are ranked by several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, articles published in Nature and Science, articles indexed in major citation indices, and the per capita academic performance of an institution.

Definitions:

Alumni. The total number of the alumni of an institution winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals. Alumni are defined as those who obtain bachelor, Master's or doctoral degrees from the institution. Different weights are set according to the periods of obtaining degrees. The weight is 100% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1991-2000, 90% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1981-1990, 80% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1971-1980, and so on, and finally 10% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1901-1910. If a person obtains more than one degrees from an institution, the institution is considered once only.

Award. The total number of the staff of an institution winning Nobel prizes in physics, chemistry, medicine and economics and Fields Medal in Mathematics. Staff is defined as those who work at an institution at the time of winning the prize. Different weights are set according to the periods of winning the prizes. The weight is 100% for winners in 2001-2005, 90% for winners in 1991-2000, 80% for winners in 1981-1990, 70% for winners in 1971-1980, and so on, and finally 10% for winners in 1911-1920. If a winner is affiliated with more than one institution, each institution is assigned the reciprocal of the number of institutions. For Nobel prizes, if a prize is shared by more than one person, weights are set for winners according to their proportion of the prize.

HiCi. The number of highly cited researchers in broad subject categories in life sciences, medicine, physical sciences, engineering and social sciences. These individuals are the most highly cited within each category. The definition of categories and detailed procedures can be found at the website of Institute of Scientific Information.

N%26amp;S. The number of articles published in Nature and Science between 2001 and 2005. To distinguish the order of author affiliation, a weight of 100% is assigned for corresponding author affiliation, 50% for first author affiliation (second author affiliation if the first author affiliation is the same as corresponding author affiliation), 25% for the next author affiliation, and 10% for other author affiliations. Only publications of article type are considered.

SCI. Total number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index-expanded and Social Science Citation Index in 2005. Only publications of article type are considered. When calculating the total number of articles of an institution, a special weight of two was introduced for articles indexed in Social Science Citation Index.

Size. The weighted scores of the above five indicators divided by the number of full-time equivalent academic staff. If the number of academic staff for institutions of a country cannot be obtained, the weighted scores of the above five indicators is used. For ranking 2006, the numbers of full-time equivalent academic staff are obtained for institutions in USA, UK, Japan, South Korea, Czech, China, Italy, Australia, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Slovenia, New Zealand etc.

1) High school class rank

2) S.A.T. scores

3) Peer rank from other universities

4) %age of alumni who give to the university

5) Median class size

When I call Harvard University to ask questions they sound like they have short tempers?
It is due to big egos. Also in their defense sometimes very smart people are annoyed by stupid questions.
Reply:If you are a sensitive sort of person and tend to tune into peoples' moods, then you are probably noticing that people give off these irritable vibes wherever you go these days.

Try to remember that it's nothing about you personally that is eliciting this reaction from the grumps on the other end of the phone line. It is a sign of the times, this ill-tempered, somewhat aggressive tone people seem to emit.

How much a Harvard University professor make monthly?

I am just wondering how much they make ?

How much a Harvard University professor make monthly?
There are huge disparities among departments, because profs in the sciences/engineering tend to get more than those in the humanities/social sciences. Also, it's only the tenured ones who make a decent salary- lecturers and the ones lower on the totem-pole start off quite low indeed. Your English Comp lecturer might be making the kingly annual salary of, say, $33K-- substantially less than the students are paying to be there.

And they are most certainly not "millionaires" off their book royalties- most of their books get bought by libraries and a handful of other academics. They're not writing popular bestsellers, guys.
Reply:On a lighter note, on one of Tom Lehrer's 1960s album (he was a Harvard maths professor) he introduced a song by saying "I don't want you to think I *have* to do this for a living... why I could be making $3,000 a year just *teaching*!"
Reply:I had a prof in college who taught at Harvard. They make good money (about $150k-$250k/year, depending on the dept, and if they are fully tenured).

However, since most of them have written, and published (successful works/books), they are making a CRAP LOAD of money off of Royalites!!!! (Many of them are millionares, just from the publishing interests!)

Harvard university school?

Can someone tell me where i can find the true scale for a beta edition iq test please?

Harvard university school?
The development of the Stanford-Binet IQ test initiated the modern field of intelligence testing. The Stanford-Binet itself started with the French psychologist Alfred Binet who was charged by the French government with developing a method of identifying intellectually deficient children for placement in special education programs. As Binet indicated, case studies may be more detailed and at times more helpful, but the time required to test large numbers of people would be huge. Unfortunately, the tests he and his assistant Victor Henri developed in 1896 were largely disappointing (Fancher, 1985).

Face-off.

Harvard University endorsed Obama with a huge check to boot, Hillary's law school is still dragging, why?
Yale Law won't endorse anyone, and for good reason. When I lived in New Haven, the student body contained Bill Clinton, Hillary Rodham, Joe Lieberman, Clarence Thomas, Rosa de Lauro, and a bunch of other people who could perfectly well run for President and might very well do so someday.

Schools generally don't endorse political candidates anyway. I'm a fan of Hillary, who seems to be the only adult running for President on either side this time.

This being accomplished, the next step is to impose Shariah on the rest of the population. There are countries where non-Muslim women are forced to abide by the rules that govern Musilm women. Harvard University implemented a new policy three weeks ago which permits only women to use a particular gym?

to work-out during certain hours every week - no men allowed. This request was initiated by a women's group, mostly Muslim women. Is this appealing to minority groups and discriminating against men, or do you think this is a fair arrangement.

I personally like the idea, as I prefer not to work-out in a gym with men, and I am not even Muslim but am curious to know how others feel.

Harvard University implemented a new policy three weeks ago which permits only women to use a particular gym?
Against.

Sorry but I follow rules - even if I think they are not bloody good- of the country I am in.

sometimes things really go too far.......and it is working against them actually ( have nothing against Muslims) but gee..

I have heard of similar requests in France : special schools for muslims women - no guys allowed - at the taxpayers' money. Being exempt from gym class etc etc etc..

There is a point when people really can hurt themselves by demanding too much.

In the Canada charter of human rights it is stated that muslim people should be granted in the work place a private area for them to pray about what ..2-3 times a day ?? Now........when reality hits......employers will discriminate out of fear of lost time, having to built special areas etc......Can you blame them ?

I live in a very predominantly protestant area. Do Catholics ask for special holidays and this and that ? no. People have to adapt.

OK..am going to get a lot of thumbs down.....but religion should be kept at home..not in school, not in politics, not in the workplace.....in my opinion.

There is a fine line between accepting/tolerating and downright obliging.

I compare it to people telling me that I should not smoke in my own home...that is my territory. I will certainly be mindful of pregnant women, allergic prone people etc and will restrain and will respect the rules of the home of people I am visiting also. But please do not tell me what I should or should not do in my property for which I care for and pay for.

I wish that smokers had private rooms too lol !

If some women have problems working out alongside men..well...sure..but I doubt they will go out protesting on the streets for that ! They might get used to it or join another gym...bit like everything in life really. When one is not comfortable with a special group, work environment, etc,,,,,,,,they leave..

@John : this is already happening lol !

Have noticed too that some muslim 360 will refuse any man to join ! Decent or not that is not the question......just what is in the pants !
Reply:What's a gym, Janet?
Reply:It is probably fair if the women feel more comfortable excercising alone. Actually, I don't think we in our country should cater to the needs of any and all religeous groups.

Suppose some woman said, "I cannot attend a lecture is there is a posibility of a man's shadow falling on me or I can not eat any food on which someones shadow has fallen."

Would it be reasonable then to have separate seating arrangements for these people?
Reply:I guess that could be ok...It's kinda weird for that to be seperated, but ok i guess...
Reply:It is reasonable. And I don't think it is discriminating to men at all. It is just giving women more freedom in the gym. Some women don't want to exercise in front of other men.
Reply:I agree it's not a bad idea on one hand, but on the other hand - when are they going to adapt and how long will we continue to make allowances for them? Why is it we have to adapt to THEM and they don't have to adapt to a country they chose to move to?

I'm so sick of them its not funny...

" Muslim taxi drivers refuse to carry blind people with guide dogs"

" Muslim students at Melbourne University request class timetables be changed to fit in with their prayer times"

" Muslim students fight for rights to wear hijab at school and have private prayer rooms"

" Muslims calling for Sharia law to be applied in a common-law country"

Hurry up and all kill each other Shi'ites and Sunnis... the sooner the better..
Reply:I don't think that it's necessarily discriminating against men. It's more about giving the Muslim women an opportunity to use the gym too. Wearing a head scarf might be dangerous on certain equipment, not to mention it might cause a woman to overheat! So designating hours when they can work out without having to wear their scarves is not discriminating.
Reply:It's a reasonable compromise. Men aren't totally not allowed and I'd be fine if they had hours for men only, women only and coed times.

Does Harvard University offer bchelor's degree in science nursing(BSN)??how bout Yale University?do they??

No, they definitely do not (the previous answerer was wrong).

Harvard and Yale are prestigious liberal arts universities. Their majors ("concentrations" at Harvard) are only in the LIBERAL ARTS....i.e. history, economics, literature, philosophy, mathematics, etc.

They have no "practical" majors, or "career-oriented" majors such as nursing, accounting, marketing, or pre-business or pre-law.

If you want a practical major, go to a state school. State schools often have hundreds of majors to choose from. Harvard only has 40 majors.

Harvard and Yale dont offer BSN.

Yale only offers nursing at the graduate school.

Wat are the neccessary requirments and classes i need to take be sure i get to enter harvard university?

i need to no the basic requirments so that for sure i can enter harvard, i need basic classes to take in high school and where to study in SATS. thanks for telling me.

Wat are the neccessary requirments and classes i need to take be sure i get to enter harvard university?
Its pretty impossible to answer this, because the school is so selective. Lets just put it this way, 2 years ago we had a kid who had a 4.8GPA, took all the hardest classes, had a perfect SAT score, and a 35 on ACT (1 away from perfect). He got rejected. He was also on the tennis team, and had a black belt.

As you can see Harvard is looking for smart people, yea, but also for more than that. They want unique people, they want rich people, they want people who are 1 in a million. There is no class that teaches that.

Granted I went to a public school (a pretty good public school actually), but still it actually hurts your chances. There are a few books out there that "teach" you to get into Harvard, some really interesting. You can search for some these, and read them.
Reply:You need to pay more attention to your spelling and grammar.

Consult your guidance counsellor about what courses to take in high school. There is no guarantee that you will be accepted at Harvard, no matter what you take. That's a very difficult school to get into.
Reply:well, first of all, I would recommend working on grammar/spelling and basic comp. skills then worry about what college may accept you

I will be a Student at East los angeles college, I want to know if i can later transfer to Harvard university?

I will be a Student at East los angeles college, I want to know if i can later transfer to Harvard university?
Private. (See Massachusett)

They accept transfer students - but...if I understand this correctly, won't be taking them for two years 2008-2009 %26amp; 2009-2010 due to housing limitations.

About Harvard and University of Santo Tomas.?

(For those Thomasian Students who entered the college of medicine in harvard)

May I ask What is the amount of the tuition fee and is it worth it? I mean they are both known because they are two of the oldest universities in the whole world. What grades in premed shall I have?

About Harvard and University of Santo Tomas.?
Harvard Med School tuition costs are "adjusted" each year. As for 2007, the tuition amounts to $38,600 per year. As a very competitive and prestigious university, Harvard students tend to have exemplary grades and excellent MCAT scores. As for its worth, it depends on what field you wish to specialize (field, research, practice, ect). Every university has its own particular specialty.

Do you know what GPA you need to get into Princeton or Harvard University?

I am 15 and I'm graduating this year. I was just wondering if anybody knew what your GPA had to be to get into Harvard or Princeton?

Do you know what GPA you need to get into Princeton or Harvard University?
Elite schools (and Princeton is about as elite as it gets) have many, many applicants for each place. If you look at the websites for MIT, Princeton and the other Ivies, and schools like Duke, Stanford, etc. they show what SAT scores and what rank in class their incoming classes have. But just having top scores is not enough. In these schools virtually every student has done something extraordinary. When my son arrived at one of these schools as a freshman, the kid in the next room was a McDonald's All-American basketball player, and the kid on the other side was the National champion in one of the most popular computer games, and also had scored 1600 on the old 2-test SAT. The guy across the hall spoke four languages and had published a book about his experience as a High School exchange student in Africa.... every single kid in the dorm was special in some way.

If you have way high scores AND something special to offer, your chances of getting into an elite school are reasonably good.
Reply:At least a 5.0
Reply:if u wanna go to princeton, u better not be from new jersey

cos i know alot of ppl who had an almost perfect gpa and sats

and didnt get in

good luck though!
Reply:4.0 those schools are extremely competive. And if you have taken AP or honors classes that makes your chances even better.
Reply:There is no minimum GPA; I know someone with 800 on the SAT combined reading and math scores who got into both of these schools.
Reply:They don't have a set GPA -- but about 95% of those accepted are in the top10% of their classes and 75% of those accepted have at least a 1400 on their SATs.
Reply:Yeah........$$$$$$$$$$$$$....... and know the right people. You can have no GPA and still get into those schools........lol.
Reply:Pretty sure you will need a 4.0 or close to it. Also need a lot of extra curricular activities, charity work, high level classes, etc.

Hi guys I am a freshman in highschool I realy want to go harvard university can u help me??

I am a 3.6 G.P.A , and I do lots of activitis like being a black belt in teakwando (won compotisions before)

varsity tennis

I help in the hospitals

and I am going to honors alg.2 next year based on what my math teacher said.

can u guys tell me what else I should do before I finish highschool

so that I have a better chance of going to harvard? thankyou guys soooo much.

Hi guys I am a freshman in highschool I realy want to go harvard university can u help me??
Start off by making all A's! Raise your GPA to, if possible, a 3.85 - 4.0, because your goal should be to become your class' valedictorian (it will help tremendously with scholarships and grants). Become apart of all the extra curricular activities you can possible manage. For example, take on a responsibility like becoming your school's National Honor Society's President (that will look pretty darn good) and compete in UIL (both sports and academics). Become social with your teachers, because when a teacher believes in you, they also believe in your dream (meaning a great recommendation in the bag). GOOD! And I mean GOOD SAT scores! 700 in each subject at the very, very least! Become involved in outside of school activities... like your teakwando, that's amazing. Props to you! Maybe do community service with Habitat for Humanity or wing it by... organizing your own fundraiser for homeless people in your community, stuff like that.

Before ending this novel, I would like to say that every Ivy League University looks for something different. You might receive acceptance into Yale but not Harvard, into Brown but not Columbia. Some schools commend students in their academics, others in their extra curricular activities, others in their community service and others in the sports they were apart of. If you are really dedicated in attending Harvard work your butt off! Because at the end it will all be worth it. But if you dont get admitted into Harvard, you might have a chance to attend another Ivy League school...and although it is the most highly held university, dont lose hope, maybe you'll even have to attend another university and transfer to Harvard. If you really believe, you will get there some how.

Best of luck!!!
Reply:Get Straight A's, take a ton of AP classes, learn how to spell competitions, Great extra-curriculars (leadership looks the best - ex. student government), and perfect SAT/ACT scores (take SAT/ACT prep courses).
Reply:I wanna go there too. u have to be like extra smart. it would be easy if ur parents went there then u can go there directly-my teacher told me. But right now i am to small for college. i am in 7th grade.

Best of luck
Reply:you're gonna need a GPA well over a 4.0, mad writing skills in order to convey your interests and personalities, etc.

i dont' know what grade you're in, but you're probably gonna have to work your way up to at least calc by graduation.

and really good SATS, probably at least 700s.
Reply:The best thing you can do at this point in your life is keep up your grade point average. Make sure you don't get behind in your studies, and also get yourself involved in a lot of school activities (only if time permits). It's only your freshman year in high school, don't stress yourself out at this point in life about what college you would like to attend because Harvard is a good school, but there are plenty more out there with the same options that Harvard as well.
Reply:Harvard gets many more high school valedictorian (#1 student in the class) applications than they have openings. This puts them in a position to decide which students who were #1 in their high school they will accept and which they will reject. They are unlikely to accept 2 students from your school, so you need to be #1 in your class.

The activities are good, but they will not be considered until after you meet the test of GPA or class standing.

You will need college prep, honors and AP classes and you will need to get A's in them. If your grades and class rank are high enough, they will look at your extracurricular activities to see if you are "well rounded".

Go for Harvard. Study like crazy to get in, but have a backup plan because most applicants who were #1 in their high school class are rejected.
