Soooo, what do you think their criteria is for determining who is bestowed this "honor"?

So Paris Hilton is Harvard University's Woman of the Year?
Well, if Paris is included...the criteria can't be attractiveness... Maybe it's ambition or confidence?
Reply:I hadn't heard that. It sure puts a different slant on "higher" education. 10-4 Mr Stiggo. Should have read before I responded.
Reply:it is intelligence isnt it ...

surely ... being Harvard and all....

I mean ....

wow

do these guys pay for that title of what ?

is that where Harvard gets its funding ?

lol
Reply:Well, she always does look good, and she is rich and popular. She also knows what's "hot" and what's "not".

I really doubt that intelligence is a criterion...
Reply:Apparently, anyone who has shown their breasts on camera.
Reply:It's sad to say when women have fought so hard for their civil rights and still are not treated equal, Sex is still what the general population believes sells. we are no different than the Romans. We have educated schools that have graduated some educated fools.
Reply:They probably admired the personal physical strength she purveyed in the sex videos she had made or perhaps admired how she said with her mouth on a late night show that she had never used drugs ever in her whole life ... even though she and her friends made extensive videos of themselves using various kinds of drugs.

I wonder if she will have "ethics" as her major if she ever attends..and I would love to see the grade transcripts of all of those who voted for her.
Reply:The size of their grant.
Reply:Wow, personally, i thought shed be on every feminist forum depicting her as the WORST Woman of the Year, oh, and hi again Hope.
Reply:rebel even smart kids like to laugh at rich dum dum folks. I would be surprised if she shows up
Reply:The selection committee for that "award" consists of the writers from the Harvard Lampoon, which is the school comedy publication. I'm pretty sure the award is tongue-in-cheek. (At least, I hope it is.)

EDIT: I agree that it's a waste of time and effort. What I'm wondering is why Ms. Hilton would actually accept the award. I wonder if she doesn't realize it's a joke or if she just doesn't care...
Reply:She gave the best sex to the judges!
Reply:If find it a laughable caricature of what higher education has become. Even if they intended it for humor.

Ath
Reply:Ownership of a vagina?
Reply:It isn't Harvard University giving the award, it's the Hasty Pudding Club, which usually presents it sarcastically.
Reply:It's for their Lampoon Magazine:

Paris Hilton has been selected as Ivy League Harvard University’s Harvard Lampoon Magazine’s Woman of the Year 2008. No, we are not joking.

The Lampoon is Harvard’s comedy magazine. Founded in 1876, the Harvard Lampoon is the world’s oldest continually published humor magazine. Former honorees include, Conan O’Brien, John Updike and William Randolph Hearst.
