Just try to apply. If you're admitted. It means you're good, and you'll be able to perform well at Hardvard (and other top schools). Application fee is about $50 (may be changed each year), don't hesitate to apply if you think you're a very good student. However, before applying, check the requirements ( G.P.A , ACT/SAT and/or TOEFL, essay, recommendation letters...)
Reply:Harvard (and other elite schools such as the rest of the Ivy League , Duke, Stanford, etc) are probably not the best place for a foreign student. They are excellent schools, but they are also competitive. Because the students there are so good, the faculty can give them really hard assignments with lots of long readings in difficult books. Is your English near-perfect? Do you have a really large English vocabulary? Can you read long passages in English technical books easily? Will you understand all the references to American and British history that are likely to appear in the history, literature or political science classes?





You will be at a disadvantage compared to the American students. So, maybe a better plan is to not consider the very top American universities, but to look at the good second level universities where the students are not quite so competitive and the faculty are not so demanding. If you look at the US News college rankings on line, there are 100 excellent "National Universities" and many smaller schools that can give you a good education, but where the academic level is a little less intense.

There is no such thing as one country, one race being the absolute best.

The pyramids are a marvel of mathematics and engineering, Switzerland is world renown for its precision engineering, Germany developed the first Jet Air Craft, Finland is famed for it's architectural designs, America, along with other nations. for medicine. The point is, no one country or people is the BEST!





Universities are interested in your academic accomplishments,


along with whether you play music or sports, what are, if any, your contributions to your community, your integrity, values, morals.





Put together you academic packet and send it to the Universities that you are interested in.





As for Harvard, my son turned down a scholarship to Harvard to attend Rochester Institute of Technology. That has nothing to do with better or worse, he just felt that R.I.T. offered a better curriculum in what he wanted to study.
Reply:I am going to assume that if you are considering Harvard you are also quite smart. If you think you can cut it at Harvard, then the only issue left is your Iranian background. You won't be the only person of Iranian descent no matter what school you go to, and Harvard is no exception. With a tradition of liberalism and openmindedness the only surprise you would have at Harvard is how little your ethnicity matters. At a place like Harvard your background only matters as much as you want it to.
