The best thing you can do is to check out their MBA admissions page. All the application requirements and deadlines are listed there. Follow the instructions, work on an outstanding application package including excellent essays that distinguish you from the rest, prepare for the GMAT and get top scores. Nothing will guarantee that you get accepted, but at least, you will know that you did your best.

Harvard Business schoolis rather small and everyone in the world wants to go there. They do not accept ordinary applicants. You have to graduate from one of the top colleges in the world with the highest possible recommendations from the faculty, or else get out of school, start a business, make millions of dollars and then apply. Most of the guys who go there have been out of school several years and have already made a name for themselves as outstanding managers who are the leaders of tomorrows business world. That's why Harvard wants them and that's why they get in.
Reply:This is going to sound harsh, but if you're asking this kind of question in this kind of forum, you don't belong at HBS. The kind of people who get into Harvard Business School generally are resourceful enough to find this kind of information out on their own. Another thing about HBS - the two most obnoxious people at my 10th high school reunion were both... students at Harvard Business School. I don't know if the school produces jerks or just attracts them.

Getting into Harvard doesn't require some magic formula. The admissions officers will always tell you that every person that was accepted to Harvard was selected on an individual basis, chosen to best create a diverse, interesting, and vibrant campus.





That's why, despite the common notion that Harvard is just a school for the rich or genius, the university is just like any other with people from all different backgrounds and with many different interests,





That being said, there are many traits that the majority of Harvard students shared. In general, most Harvard students attained high GPAs and SAT scores in high school (though not necessarily a 4.0). Applicants are evaluated on a case by case basis and admissions officers not only not the letters and numbers but also the classloads. Challenge yourself to take the hardest classes your school offers or take classes at your local community college if your school does not have many higher level courses. The strongest student is one that goes above and beyond the basic requirements.





Similarly, pursue your passions. Many accepted students boast excellent extracurricular along with their academic achievement. Be active in the community (your school, neighborhood, city) and join clubs to develop your interests or start clubs that your school lacks.





Grades and SAT scores are only a part of the whole package that you are being evaluated on. Admissions officers also look at your list of clubs, awards, work experience, recommendations, and your essay (or personal statement) is key. Make sure to make yourself stand out. So simple "I've persevered", "I've learned this or that from ths or that memorable experience". When applying, try to look through the lens of the grader. What will pop out at him/her? What makes you unique and worthy of being among the 8% of applicants that are sent that large envelop with the congratualatory letter?





While there is no such thing as a golden ticket or a magic formula. As long as you strive to be a well-rounded student who has balanced academic achievement with social and community involvement, who is motivated, excited, and driven to realize goals, you will definitely boost your chances.
